AI medical scribe for South African doctors
Dictate your clinical note or record the consultation with consent. Sphygmos prepares a structured draft for review and keeps documentation connected to the patient, clinical documents and follow-up work.
Dictation: your clinical account
Use Dictation when you want to speak your own note, during a break or after a consultation. Describe the history, examination, assessment and plan in your own words. Review the transcription and structured output, particularly names, medication doses, negative findings and follow-up instructions.
- A prominent Dictation action stays available in the main navigation.
- Review and edit the draft before saving it to the patient record.
- Useful when you want to record your assessment without recording the patient.
Consult recorder: the doctor-patient conversation
Consult recording captures two-person conversation rather than the doctor's summary alone. Confirm the patient and consent before starting. After recording, check the draft against what was actually said. Speaker attribution and medical terminology need clinician review, especially with background noise or overlapping speech.
- Patient context is visible before recording begins.
- Consent and an explicit Start action precede capture.
- Recording and subsequent review are separate stages.
A note is the beginning of the follow-up
From the consultation, review the note, assessment and plan, then prepare the necessary script, referral, patient instructions, follow-up or invoice draft. These remain clinical decisions and editable documents, not automatic orders. An AI scribe should reduce transcription work without making the doctor lose control of the record.
- Keep Dictation and Consult recorder distinct when choosing allowances.
- Compare recording-minute limits and top-ups on the pricing page.
- WhatsApp delivery, automated claims switching and direct lab feeds are not currently active.

Questions doctors ask
What is the difference between Dictation and Consult recorder?
Dictation records the doctor's spoken note. Consult recorder captures the doctor-patient conversation with consent. They are separate workflows with separately published usage allowances.
Can I use it on mobile?
Sphygmos is browser-based with mobile recording and review workflows. Microphone permission, a suitable browser and a reliable connection are needed. Test a sample recording on the device you intend to use.
Will the AI note be ready to sign without checking it?
No. Always review the transcription, clinical meaning, medicines, doses and follow-up. A generated draft is not a verified clinical record until the doctor has checked it.
